Step 1:
If you have used the “Second Skin” plastic patch:
Remove the plastic bandage after 2–3 days. You can shower in the meantime, but be careful not to expose the tattoo to direct water flow, especially hot water. If the bandage begins to peel or tears, remove it immediately and clean the area.
If you have used normal plastic wrap:
Replace the plastic wrap with a new one every 4 hours and continue doing this for about 24 hours after the tattoo is completed. Apply a thin layer of lotion (e.g., Bepanthenol) before applying the new plastic wrap.
Step 2:
Once the plastic has been removed, wash the tattoo with mild soap and warm water, pat it dry with a clean towel, and apply a thin layer of the recommended lotion (e.g., Bepanthenol) 3–4 times a day, or whenever the tattoo feels dry. Repeat the washing (twice daily) and moisturizing (3–4 times daily) every day until flaking or scabbing has completely stopped—typically around 7 to 10 days.
Do not remove the scabs from the tattoo during healing. Allow the scabs to come off naturally to avoid infection or discoloration. The overall healing process usually takes about 14 days.
Important notes:
• Avoid tight clothing, fabrics that don’t allow the skin to breathe, perfume, skincare products, and shampoo on the healing tattoo.
• Avoid tanning, saunas, and swimming pools for at least 2 weeks. Only work out if approved by your tattoo artist.
• If possible, refrain from tanning for an additional 6 weeks after healing is complete.
• If the tattoo becomes sore or shows signs of infection, contact your tattoo artist or consult a doctor or pharmacist.
